Keanu Reeves Opens Up About Recent Severe Injury on Set of Latest Film

Keanu Reeves is one of the most cherished celebrities of his generation, with few, if any, speaking ill of him. So, when the beloved actor revealed an unfortunate incident that happened to him, it naturally raised concerns among his fans.

Recently, Reeves has been busy filming his latest project, Good Fortune. During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier this week, the 59-year-old actor shared a story that left many worried.

Reeves recounted how he broke his kneecap while filming. Known for his action-packed filmography, including movies like The Matrix and the John Wick series, it was surprising to hear that such a minor mishap led to his injury.

Colbert inquired, “What happened? Who got to you?”

Reeves playfully responded in a tough guy voice, “No one got to me. Accident got to me.”

Colbert further probed, “Were you jumping from building to building? Doing a cartwheel past razor blades? What were you doing?”

“No, Stephen, I was walking into the dressing room, a room. I’ll tell it quick,” Reeves explained.

He shared that the incident occurred while filming a scene for Good Fortune, an upcoming comedy with Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogen. The three were in a cold plunge, and Reeves was enjoying it. After they finished, he started doing the “cold shuffle” in a room with protective carpets. Unfortunately, his foot got caught in a pocket while doing so.

Reeves stood up to demonstrate, walking in front of Stephen’s desk to show how his knee gave way. “And I spiked. Like, spiked,” he said, mimicking the incident. “Just drove it into the ground.”

“My patella, kneecap, cracked like a potato chip. But I didn’t know that. Then once my knee was blowing up,” Reeves continued.

“Comedy is hard, man,” Reeves joked.

“This was not an action film with Aziz and Rogen,” Colbert clarified.

“No, it was comedy,” Reeves confirmed.

“Welcome to my life,” Colbert joked.

Reeves had been spotted filming on crutches earlier this year in January, with an ice pack on his knee.

Good Fortune marks Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut, in addition to starring Sandra Oh and Keke Palmer. It’s heartening to know that Keanu Reeves has recovered well.
