As of August 2023, concerns were raised about the possibility of Dion ending her career due to struggles in finding effective medications and treatments for her illness. Stiff-person Syndrome, described by the Cleveland Clinic as “a rare autoimmune movement disorder that affects the central nervous system,” causes muscle stiffness in the trunk and eventually spreads to other parts of the body.
