Michael Hoskin, Turia’s partner, made the selfless decision to leave his job as a police officer to provide care for her after the accident. She faced the loss of seven fingers and underwent a recovery period spanning over two years. In 2020, during an interview, she recounted the horrifying incident when she was caught in a fire during a 100-kilometer race in a remote area of Western Australia. “I remember seeing bits of my skin stuck to the rocks and spinifex,” Pitt shared, describing the overwhelming sense of panic she experienced.”
Four years ago, while Turia was in intensive care, Michael purchased a diamond ring, which he later used to propose to her in 2015 during their vacation in the Maldives. Michael fondly recalls, ‘When Turia was in intensive care four years ago, I bought a diamond ring.’
During the initial two years of her recovery, Turia had to wear a mask to conceal her face. Her progress was slow but steady. Every day, Michael would lovingly tell his wife, ‘You’re beautiful.’ In 2016, the couple celebrated their wedding, exchanging vows.

In 2017, Turia shared the news of her pregnancy with their first child on Instagram. The announcement quickly reached a wide audience in Australia, where many had been following their journey for years. Even though she knew she wouldn’t be able to participate in marathons for some time, the expectant mother asserted that she was committed to staying active and maintaining her fitness throughout her pregnancy.
On December 7, 2017, Michael and Turia joyfully introduced their son Hakavai to the world. They later celebrated the arrival of their second child, a son named Rahiti Hoskin, on February 9, 2020.
