Richard Gere, the renowned American actor, has sold his Connecticut estate for nearly $11 million, as reported by PEOPLE. The 75-year-old star plans to relocate to Spain with his wife, Alejandra Silva, 41. Gere originally purchased the New Canaan property in 2022 for $10.8 million, slightly more than its recent selling price. The estate was previously owned by musicians Paul Simon and Edie Brickell, who bought it for $16.5 million, incurring a notable loss in the sale.
The estate, built in 1938, spans 32 acres and includes a six-bedroom main house, 11 bathrooms, a pool, multiple gardens, and a three-bedroom guest cottage. Gere and Silva lived there for two years, during which they even considered turning it into a farm.
Now, Gere is preparing for a new chapter overseas. The move to Spain will bring the couple closer to Silva’s family, aligning with their desire to be near her roots. Married since 2018, this marks Gere’s third marriage.
Richard Gere shared with Vanity Fair Spain that it would be wonderful for his wife, Alejandra Silva, to reconnect with her friends, family, and native culture. He expressed that spending time in Spain would be a meaningful gesture for her.
Describing the move to Madrid as a “great adventure,” Gere revealed his excitement about this new chapter for himself, Silva, and their two young sons, Alexander, 5, and James, 4. Gere also has a 24-year-old son, Homer, from his previous marriage to Carey Lowell. Silva, meanwhile, has an 11-year-old son, Albert, from her marriage to Govind Friedland.
Richard Gere’s move to Spain is the start of an exciting new chapter for him and his family. Leaving behind his Connecticut home, he’s choosing to focus on love, family, and new adventures. Fans everywhere wish Gere and his loved ones happiness as they begin this next part of their journey.
