Kelly Clarkson confesses that she’s willing to resort to spanking her children if they misbehave.

Using spanking to discipline children is a topic that people disagree about. The American Academy of Pediatrics says it doesn’t work and can be harmful. But some parents still think it’s okay.
Kelly Clarkson is one of those parents. She talked about it in a recent radio interview. Kelly has two kids, River Rose (8) and Remy (6). She said she’s okay with spanking as a form of discipline. She explained, “I don’t mean hitting her hard, I just mean a little spanking.” It’s something she experienced when she was young, and she doesn’t see a problem with it.

“I was spanked by my parents, and I turned out okay,” said Kelly, who grew up in Texas. “I’m from the South, y’all, so we’re used to spankings. If I got in trouble at school, my mom would let them spank me too… I turned out to be a well-rounded person with a strong character, so I think it’s okay.”
Clarkson, who is not only a successful singer, songwriter, author, and TV personality, recently got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The famous American Idol star acknowledged that her parenting style can be controversial, especially when she needs to discipline her children in public.
“It’s tricky when you’re out in public because some people might think it’s wrong, but I don’t see anything wrong with a spanking,” she explained. “I believe in spanking, so you might see me giving my child a spank at the zoo.”
However, she mentioned that she always warns her children beforehand. “I tell them, ‘Hey, if you don’t stop right now, I’m going to give you a spank on your bottom,’ and honestly, it’s been really effective. They don’t misbehave as often.”
