Mother and son stand up against online trolls following the viral video of their time together.

A mother and her son are speaking out against online trolls following the viral video of their special moment. Amber Wright, thrilled after watching her 16-year-old son, Brixton, play in a high school football game, is addressing inappropriate comments that surfaced online.
After watching him play, she ran up to her son and embraced him, wrapping her legs around his torso before he placed her back down.

The video quickly gained widespread attention, with some unfortunately taking their thoughts in an inappropriate direction.

Now, the mother and son have responded to inappropriate comments regarding the nature of their relationship. Amber clarified that she felt “proud” of her son after watching him play and simply wanted to give him a hug. Speaking to TODAY, she expressed her surprise, saying, “I was so proud. I was a proud mom hugging her kid. I never expected it to turn into something where people are like’You’re sexually abusing him! You’re grooming him! I’m calling child protective services’.”

Amber then shared that Brixton’s late father had passed away on April 4, and the football game marked the first time he wore a football jersey on the field, making it an emotional moment for the family.

“He was feeling emotional, and I think as his mom, I’m his safe space,” explained Amber to the outlet.

Brixton also didn’t mince words when responding to the trolls. In a now-deleted Instagram post, he wrote: “How about you leave my mom alone. She’s never harmed me, done anything inappropriate with me or my friends, or mistreated me. She’s my mom; she is my hero. The video of us hugging was a HUG. Go bother someone else and maybe hug your own kids. You all need Jesus damn,” he concluded.

Amber emphasized to TODAY, “I come from a very affectionate family. I hug my dad every time I see him. What you saw on the football field is just how we are. Brix will pick me up and squeeze me and then put me back down.”

In her original post, Amber had written in the caption: “This boy will forever and always have my entire heart. Gina captured the end of this moment, and I’m SO grateful.”

“When I approached my son to hug him after his game, he promptly lifted me up and embraced me. It might have been 20 seconds, 30 seconds, a minute; I have no idea. But in that moment, time stood completely still.

“I honestly don’t know what I did to deserve you, @brix_wright, but I am thankful every second of every single day for you.”
