The rock music world received a shock as iconic Ozzy Osbourne announced his retirement from live performances due to health issues from a severe spinal injury he had four years ago. For fans of the “Prince of Darkness,” it signifies the end of an era, as a major figure in heavy metal and rock history steps away from the stage.
“No More Tours II” Farewell Show:
His farewell performance took place at Ozzfest in December 2018.
He expressed deep regret over his inability to embark on another tour, attributing it to the lingering effects of a severe spinal injury sustained four years ago. Ozzy described this as one of the most challenging things he has had to convey, citing his ongoing physical weakness as a result of three surgeries and numerous treatments, including stem cell therapy and cybernetics (HAL) therapy. While he thanked his fans for their patience, he also shared his sadness at being unable to travel for live performances.
Ozzy gave his audience a moving statement expressing his sadness at the prospect of letting them down. His health deteriorated following spinal surgery in 2019 and the discovery that he would be permanently crippled.
The fact that he was later diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and had a nasty fall that aggravated his neck injury in an ATV accident in 2003 made the problem worse. Realizing that his days traveling the world were short, Ozzy expressed his thanks to those closest to him, including his family, bandmates, crew members, lifelong friends of Judas Priest, and devoted fans who gave him a life he never knew existed.
Ozzy Osbourne underwent two spinal surgeries in 2017 to repair damage caused by an ATV accident 17 years ago. He was left with 15 back screws and excruciating nerve agony throughout his body.
Ozzy displayed remarkable courage as he opted for another surgery and successfully underwent treatment, which included nerve cutting and the use of pain medication, all while battling his debilitating condition.
Just two months later, he was granted permission to perform at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. His unwavering determination and bravery in the face of such adversity are truly commendable.
Ozzy Osbourne’s retirement from live shows marks the end of a rock era for his friends, family, and fans. His music will keep touching the hearts of fans from different generations, securing his place as a rock legend. As he begins his retirement, we wish him the best while celebrating his amazing career and the lasting impact of his music on the world. Even though the “Prince of Darkness” won’t perform on stage, his music and spirit will live on.
Let’s come together to send our thoughts and good wishes to Ozzy Osbourne as he starts this new chapter in his life. His journey was one of triumph and strength, and he will always be remembered as a rock and roll icon.
