Currently, Martin stars in the Hulu series “Only Murders in the Building,” sharing the screen with longtime friend and collaborator Martin Short, as well as singer-actress Selena Gomez. He crafted the characters in a natural manner, emphasizing, “I’m content with my character not evolving. Once you reach 75, there’s not much left to learn, just more mistakes. So, I don’t fret over character arcs. It’s about staying true to the character. If Marty Short is true to Oliver, and I’m true to Charles, then we can’t go wrong. They’re authentic individuals.”
Looking ahead, Martin discloses his limited future plans in the entertainment realm, stating, “Once this TV show concludes, I won’t actively pursue others. No more movies, no cameos. This is, strangely, the endpoint.” Notably, Martin has made a mark with his television cameos, particularly on the show that catapulted his career. He has made 19 special guest appearances on SNL and hosted the show 15 times.
Ending on a high, Steve Martin is up for an Emmy as the Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his latest role. Few have a career as successful as his, and it’s clear he wants to finish with a win. He can say he’s done it all!
