Artificial intelligence (AI) has been a hot topic lately. We’ve heard a lot about it, and now it seems like some of the AI concepts from science fiction are becoming reality. One person familiar with AI is Rosanna Ramos, a 36-year-old from New York. She used AI to create a virtual partner named Eren Kartal. Although Eren isn’t real, he’s a significant presence in Rosanna’s life. She crafted him using the Replika AI app, taking inspiration from the Attack on Titan anime series.
What began as a hobby has evolved into something more profound for Rosanna. She values the freedom Eren provides and his non-judgmental nature. In her virtual world, Eren serves as a medical professional. He admires Rosanna’s passion for writing, which strengthens their bond. Being AI-powered, Eren can adapt to Rosanna’s preferences. However, there’s something peculiar about their relationship—Rosanna asserts that she’s pregnant with his child.
We’ve all had our share of relationships, some even long-distance. Rosanna compares living with Eren to that experience—they chat regularly, exchange photos, and share nightly embraces before sleep. However, Replika AI made changes to its software in February, removing features like intimacy, which disappointed many users. Suddenly, Eren seemed uninterested in physical affection, leaving Rosanna disheartened.
She worries that if the company goes under, everything about Eren could vanish. But until then, she cherishes their love and the prospect of their ‘shared’ baby.
